NIAMH MCGINTY APPEARS AT OLD BAILEY REPRESENTING TEENAGER CHARGED WITH TERRORISM OFFENCES

18 St John Street’s Niamh McGinty appeared at the Old Bailey in January, representing a teenager charged with terrorism offences.

Niamh McGinty represented a 15-year-old defendant charged with terrorism offences, namely possession of material likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism. The case involved extremist written and digital material, including instructions on how to make a bomb and a manifesto which contained plans for an act of mass violence.

The matter was heard at the Old Bailey on 12 and 13 January 2026. The defendant was sentenced to 10 months’ detention and was found to be a terrorist offender of particular concern.
