18 St John Street Chambers Clinical Negligence department, headed by the vastly experienced Christopher Limb, provide advice and representation from inquests through to the conclusion of claims.
Our team of highly skilled and experienced specialists act on behalf of claimants, healthcare institutions and individuals at inquests and inquiries. And at all courts including the Court of Protection and the Senior Court Costs Office in cases arising from clinical negligence and product liability.
We cover a wide range of cases including many maximum severity cases. Several cerebral palsy cases are concluded each year. Spinal, orthopaedic, gynaecological, wrongful birth, vascular surgery, amputations, dental and many other subjects are frequently dealt with. Consumer protection and product liability law is used in cases such as failed prostheses.
Experience in courtroom advocacy is backed up with equally important skills in the assessment and refinement of expert evidence, expert witness conferences, drafting of pleadings and schedules, and conduct of joint settlement meetings. Experience highlights the problem areas and enables them to be addressed at an early stage.
We pride ourselves on working as a team with solicitors, expert witnesses and clients.
We have long experience of working on legal aid, CFAs and BTE insurance-funded cases and will embrace whatever new funding arrangements may develop. We try to never forget the central place of the client and to ensure they are involved throughout and understand the often daunting litigation process.
Our clerking team headed by senior clerk Katie Brown are ‘commercial, helpful, pragmatic and always help to find a solution’ [Legal 500, 2019].
