Mini Pupillage
It is important that anyone who is considering a career in the legal sector (including as a barrister) has the opportunity to explore that career path. In 2023, Chambers will offer a Mini Pupillage Scheme and a Work Experience Scheme.
Chambers promotes equal opportunities and is committed to diversity in the legal sector. It is important that as many people as possible, from a variety of different backgrounds, are encouraged to consider a career in the legal sector.
Reasonable expenses will be covered for successful applicants to both the Mini Pupillage Scheme and a Work Experience Scheme.
Mini Pupillage Scheme 2023
The window for applications to the Mini Pupillage Scheme for 2023 is now closed.
Further details on applications for 2024 will be announced in due course.
Work Experience Scheme 2023
The Work Experience Scheme is designed to give work experience students the opportunity to find out whether a career in the legal sector is for them. The work experience students will have some opportunity to shadow Chambers staff and/or barristers as they go about their work. There will also be law-based activities, talks and ‘questions and answer’ sessions about the work of Chambers.
There will be a total of 6 work experience students who will take part in a structured scheme of activities for 2 days (15th and 16th Aug 2023) at the Chambers premises on St John Street in Manchester.
All applicants must be 16 years old (or above) by 15th August 2023
Applications will open on 1st May 2023.
All applications must be submitted no later than 15th June 2023 and an application form is available to download below.
The selection criteria for applicants: Is the applicant at a stage where they would benefit from work experience?
- Applicants who can demonstrate that they have carried out their own research into a career in the legal sector and are now ready to find out more (about a career in the legal sector) are more likely to be successful.
- Applicants who have already carried out relevant work experience/ mini pupillages are less likely to be successful.
Please download the Work Experience Application Form and once completed return to pupils@18sjs.com by 15th June 2023.
