Emily specialises in all areas of criminal law. She welcomes instructions for both prosecution and defence.

Emily maintains a busy practice covering a wide range of offences, including domestic violence, drug supply, violent offences and acquisitive crimes. Emily accepts instructions in the Crown Court, Youth Court and Magistrates’ Court.

Emily recently secured unanimous not guilty verdicts regarding allegations of strangulation and assault occasioning actual bodily harm during her first Crown Court trial.

Emily has represented HMRC in forfeiture proceedings, including providing advice as to disclosure, as well as representing local councils for revocation of a private hire driver’s licence.

Emily also recently persuaded the Crown to offer no evidence against her client on serious allegations of non-fatal strangulation and assault following detailed disclosure requests provided within the defence statement.

Emily prides herself on her interpersonal skills and attention to detail. She uses her initiative when seeking practical resolutions on matters where appropriate.

Emily accepted tenancy at 18 St John Street Chambers in January 2026 upon successful completion of her pupillage under the supervision of Daniel Calder.

Before coming to the Bar, Emily worked as a criminal paralegal at Mary Monson Solicitors, a criminal defence firm, for a year. She managed her own busy caseload of police station, Magistrates, and Crown Court work.

R v R [2026] – Represented a Defendant at trial concerning allegations of strangulation and a S47 assault at Preston Crown Court. Unanimous not guilty verdicts secured following a four-day trial.

R v H [2026] – Represented a Defendant charged with non-fatal strangulation and assault in the Crown Court. No evidence offered following the Crown reviewing the detailed disclosure requests provided in the defence statement.

R v V [2026] – Represented a Defendant at sentence in the Crown Court who had pleaded guilty to two offences of possession with intent to supply a class A drug, and possession of criminal property. Emily successful persuaded the Judge that, in spite of the seriousness of the offences, the sentence should be suspended.
