Vanessa is an established family law specialist practising mainly in public and private law applications. She regularly appears on behalf of local authorities, parents and guardians throughout the North West.
Vanessa has a particular interest in non-accidental injuries and cases involving clients with mental health difficulties. She is regarded as a diligent practitioner who prides herself on a thorough presentation of her clients’ cases.
Vanessa presents seminars to child care practitioners and has taught on the ILEX course regarding family law.
X council v I & B (2014) unreported
Represented local authority where teenage child diagnosed with obesity, asthma and eczema was neglected by her parents. The parents refused to engage with medical advice and matters were further exacerbated by the parents’ belief that the child was possessed and that her health difficulties stemmed from this.
X council v A & Ors (2017) unreported
Represented mother who was suspected of causing significant injuries to a family relative in her care. The local authority withdrew proceedings upon consideration of expert evidence.
J v M, D and S (2015) unreported
Represented grandparents of subject child at private law fact finding/final hearing. The father was found to have caused an injury to the child and his application for enforcement of contact was dismissed. The father’s parental responsibility for the child was also terminated.
