PETER GLENSER QC PROSECUTES WATER POLLUTION CASE ON BEHALF OF ENVIRONMENT AGENCY

Peter Glenser QC successfully prosecuted Northumbrian Water for polluting a watercourse in a case brought by the Environment Agency at Durham Crown Court.

Northumbrian Water pleaded guilty just before the trial was due to start on Monday 4th October to discharging sewage effluent into the watercourse that runs through Heads Hope Dene near Castle Eden.

The company were fined £540,000 and ordered to pay costs of more than £142,000 and a £170 victim surcharge at the sentence hearing on Wednesday 6th October.

Peter led Richard Bradley of Oriel Chambers and was instructed by the Environment Agency.
