VICTORIA ROBERTS APPEARS IN SIGNIFICANT MARITAL RIGHTS APPEAL

17th Feb 2020

Victoria Roberts led by Charles Hale QC appeared in an appeal against the decision of Mr Justice Williams to pronounce a decree nisi of nullity to an Islamic marriage where the ceremony had not taken place in a registered building.

Mr Justice Williams had said the court was justified in taking a ‘holistic view of a process rather than a single ceremony’. The Court of Appeal however said the ceremony was non-qualifying and so it did not create a void marriage.
