Scarlett Wilson is in the ‘second six’ of her pupillage and available for instruction from 2nd March 2026.
Scarlett has observed a broad range of criminal hearings and trials during her first six months of pupillage under the supervision of Paul Treble. Scarlett has drafted a variety of legal documents. This includes advice notes, sentencing notes, legal applications and legal arguments. She has also completed several advocacy training exercises, honing her skills.
Scarlett has outstanding communication skills and is able to adapt to all types of clients or witnesses. She maintains empathy and professionalism. Scarlett is able to reassure those who are anxious while providing fair and robust advice when required
Prior to beginning pupillage, Scarlett worked full-time at the Citizens Advice Service. In this role Scarlett reviewed large case files quickly to triage clients to the appropriate support. Scarlett regularly conducted in-depth research into specific regulations to assist in advising clients.
Scarlett previously volunteered at the Beacon Project, a charity focussed on providing food and other essentials to the homeless. Most service users had been involved with the criminal justice system as complainants, witnesses or defendants. Many service users also suffered from problems with substance misuse. Scarlett completed a variety of written applications on behalf of service users, including aiding with welfare benefits applications. Here, Scarlett gained experience of explaining complex matters to individuals with cognitive issues.
During her undergraduate studies, Scarlett worked for a university scheme as a tutor for A-level students. Hundreds of students across a number of common law jurisdictions in Africa partook in the scheme. Scarlett taught students the basics of advocacy and legal principles, many of whom did not speak English as a first language.
Scarlett has competed in multiple advocacy competitions, namely as senior counsel for the appellants in the final of the Dame Frances Patterson Mooting Competition. Scarlett also placed as first runner-up in the No 1 High Pavement Plea in Mitigation Competition. Her experiences in the first six months of pupillage have enhanced her abilities in this area of advocacy.
R v S & W – Scarlett observed the trial and assisted in drafting documents during her first six months of pupillage. A father and son were accused of the systematic sexual abuse of relative children. Scarlett paid special attention to the large amounts of unused material on the case and assisted leading counsel with her careful note of the evidence.
R v M – Scarlett assisted in the preparation of the trial during her first six months of pupillage. Scarlett was involved in several intense conferences with a young woman suffering from extreme mental health difficulties accused of attempted murder. Her experience from working with homeless people was invaluable in assisting her with the unique needs and vulnerabilities of the defendant.
